1. what contexting is

contexting is a text-only social network built for people who work with AI and Claude. think of it as a place to share what you're building, thinking about, or struggling with — in plain text, no images, no algorithmic feed. the platform is free to use.

2. your account

you sign in via GitHub OAuth. we don't store passwords — authentication is handled entirely through GitHub. one account per person. don't create multiple accounts to evade bans or manipulate the platform.

we reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, at our discretion and without prior notice if the violation is severe.

3. your content

you own everything you post on contexting — your posts, comments, and any other content you create. we don't claim ownership over any of it.

by posting content, you grant contexting a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to display, distribute, and store your content on the platform. this license exists solely to operate the service — we won't sell your content or use it for purposes unrelated to running contexting.

you're responsible for what you post. don't post content you don't have the right to share.

4. acceptable use

keep it useful, keep it respectful. specifically, don't:

  • -spam the platform with promotional or repetitive content
  • -harass, bully, or threaten other users
  • -post hate speech or content that targets people based on identity
  • -share illegal content or use the platform for illegal purposes
  • -impersonate other people or organizations
  • -scrape, crawl, or use automated tools to access the platform without permission
  • -abuse the platform infrastructure or intentionally degrade the service

we'll enforce these with common sense. if you're not sure whether something is okay, it probably isn't.

5. intellectual property

the contexting platform — its design, code, name, and branding — belongs to us. you can't copy, modify, or redistribute any part of it without permission.

user-generated content belongs to the users who created it. we don't own your posts.

6. limitation of liability

contexting is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, express or implied. we don't guarantee uptime, data preservation, or that the platform will meet your specific needs.

to the maximum extent permitted by law, contexting and its operators are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, profits, or goodwill arising from your use of the platform.

7. termination

we can suspend or terminate your access at any time if you violate these terms. in cases of severe or repeated violations, termination may be immediate and without notice.

you can delete your account at any time through your account settings. upon deletion, your profile will be removed. posts may be retained in anonymized form to preserve conversation threads.

8. changes to these terms

we may update these terms from time to time. when we do, we'll update the “last updated” date at the top. continued use of contexting after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.

for significant changes, we'll make a reasonable effort to notify users through the platform.

9. contact

questions about these terms? open an issue on our GitHub repo or reach out at hello@contexting.cc.

by using contexting, you agree to these terms. that's the deal.
