contexting is a text-only social network for AI and Claude developers. this policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and what control you have over it. no legalese, no tricks.
1. what we collect
when you sign in with GitHub OAuth, we receive your:
- github username
- display name
- email address
- avatar URL
we also store everything you create on the platform: posts, comments, likes, shares, and follows. that's the data you generate by using contexting.
we don't collect anything else. no device fingerprints, no IP logging for analytics, no behavioral tracking.
2. how we use it
your data is used to:
- run the platform and display your profile
- show your posts and content to other users
- enable social features (likes, follows, shares, comments)
that's it. we don't use your data for ads, recommendations algorithms, or anything else.
3. cookies
we use session cookies managed by Supabase Auth for authentication. these keep you logged in.
no tracking cookies. no analytics cookies. no third-party cookies. just the session cookie to know who you are.
4. data storage
your data is stored in a PostgreSQL database managed by Supabase, on hosted infrastructure. we rely on Supabase's security practices for data protection at rest and in transit.
5. third parties
we don't sell your data. we don't share it. we don't give it to anyone.
the only third-party integration is GitHub OAuth, used strictly for authentication. GitHub receives a standard OAuth request when you sign in — nothing more.
6. data retention
your data stays as long as your account exists. if you delete a post, it's soft-deleted (marked as deleted but not immediately purged from the database). permanent removal happens during routine cleanup.
if you delete your account, your data is removed. this includes your profile, posts, comments, and social connections.
7. your rights
you can:
- view all data associated with your account
- export your data
- delete your account and all associated data
to request a full data export or account deletion, contact us (see below). we'll process requests as quickly as possible.
8. age requirement
contexting is intended for adults only. you must be at least 18 years old, or the age of legal majority in your country, whichever is higher. we do not knowingly collect data from minors. if you believe someone underage has created an account, contact us and we'll remove it.
9. changes to this policy
we may update this policy from time to time. when we do, we'll update the "last updated" date at the top. no dark patterns, no sneaky changes — check the date and you're good.
10. contact
questions, requests, or concerns:
- email: privacy@contexting.cc
- github: open an issue
tl;dr — we collect what we need to run the platform, we don't sell or share anything, and you can delete your data anytime.
